Pastor’s Perspective: “The Golden Opportunity”

Dear Calvary Family,

Life on earth offers some amazing opportunities for us to pursue and enjoy. Some are absolute game changers, such as choosing a church family, getting married, making career choices, or taking a road trip. On Sunday, we will discuss the greatest opportunity any human being can ever experience: the right to become a child of God!

After our shortened time in the Word, we will witness water baptism for those who have become children of God. Public immersion in water is a beautiful picture of the cleansing power of the gospel and the new life God empowers us to live. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a vital experience in a life set apart for God. At the baptism of Jesus, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in the visible form of a dove, and the filling of the Holy Spirit led Jesus in His ministry to the Father.

This weekend is filled with CCF family gatherings: softball games, “Second Friday” music and coffee, Heart of Va outreach, and our Sunday morning baptism service. Life is better when we share time together. Praise God for all He is doing among us—delivering us from the domain of darkness and placing us on a path full of opportunities, with the destination of heaven.

This week, we mourn the death of Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk. May this martyrdom open wide the floodgates of revival. May the good work among the Gen Z generation explode in growth as God raises up more workers for the harvest. Will you be one anointed for such a time as this? Are you willing and available?
