Pastor’s Perspective: Pierced to the Heart
Dear Church Family,
In Acts 2:36-37 we are told that when many in Israel realized that, they when they crucified Jesus, they actually had crucified the Christ, they were pierced to the heart.
The Holy Spirit, through the preaching of the Word of God, revealed that, just 50 days prior, these religious fanatics had made a grave mistake, they rejected the very one who was able to help them.
We can all admire the humility of those who were pierced to the heart, who asked the Apostle Peter a very important question on the day of Pentecost, "what shall we do"?
What shall we do when we realized we messed up? What shall we do when we realize that we falsely accused? What shall we do when our eyes are opened to our own miserable condition? What shall we do when we are pierced to the heart?
The answer in, Acts 2:38, to those early seekers of hope, is the same answer for us today, repent! Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
This Sunday morning, May 19th, we will once again fill the CCF cattle trough for a public believers baptism. In Acts 2:36 we see that Jesus is both Christ and Lord of His church. Water baptism is not only a wonderful picture of Christ's forgiveness and washing, but also of His Lordship over our lives! Have you surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus? Are you resting in the fact that the Shepherd and gaurdian of your soul can be trusted completely?
If you desire to baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ, come dressed in modest attire, bring an extra set of dry set of clothes, a heart of simple faith and trust, and prepare to receive a blessing from above!
See you on Sunday!
