Leader’s Perspective: Uneducated and Untrained
Church Family,
Like most of you all, I spent a large portion of my childhood being educated and trained. There were physical, moral, and social expectations of me that I desired and sought to live up to. I am thankful to God for the instruction I received as a young person. After all, how can a young man keep his way pure? According to Ps 119, it's by living according to God's Word.
In Acts chapter 4, Peter and John spoke the word of God with boldness. Yet, it was not namely their education and training to thank. As Jewish boys, they had been taught the Scriptures faithfully, but they were perceived as uneducated and untrained men by the political and religious leaders of their day. In a sense, they were as such. They held no notable position of authority or leadership, but were just common fishermen. Even so, vs 13 says the religious leaders marveled. And they realized that Peter and John had been with Jesus.
I think this is a good reminder for all of us as disciples. We can be grateful and appreciative of our education and training, but far more important are the personal moments spent with Jesus. We are to call upon Him in need and receive the constant filling of the Holy Spirit that Jesus so longed for his disciples to have upon His departure.
I hope each of you can join this Sunday as we worship the Lord together. Many of the youth at CCF have stepped up to serve the Lord in the various ministries that go on each Sunday morning. They are such bright lights in our body and communities. They are not just the next generation of godly examples and leaders but are already the current salt and light in our world.
Just a reminder, there is a VBS meeting for all volunteers this Sunday at 11:45am in the Overflowing Cup.
Blessings,
Dawson
