Pastor’s Perspective: Repentance to Life

Repentance and new life found in Jesus Christ is miraculous, not mechanical. The evidence of this new life is simple, new life. It's tempting to coax a potential convert to say a sinners prayer and assume salvation took place. But new life in Christ is not found by just repeating a prayer,  but by repentance and genuine faith in Jesus Christ.

The presence of the Holy Spirit upon a believer brings about a changed life. In Acts 10-11, the Holy Spirit is the agent of change in the life of new believers.

True salvation involves repentance, repentance leads to new life. The word repentance itself means to change direction. It must begin inwardly and it must be a work of the Holy Spirit if it is to remain.

Let's join together in faith for genuine conversions, waiting on the Holy Spirit to finish His work of conviction of sin, leading to repentance. As the inches of rain has been falling in abundance, may the Holy Spirit be poured out in great measure upon our broken and sinful community as well.

Please be in prayer for the Kensington mission team as they travel to Philadelphia today. They will serve with The Rock Ministry to minister to children and youth in that drug infested community, new life is miraculous.

Also, this Sat morning Bart is leading a work day at church, beginning at 8:00. Many hands make work light, especially as we clean and organize our storage areas. Join us if you can.

Patient before the Lord,

Pastor Marv
