Pastor’s Perspective: An Encounter with Jesus
Dear Calvary Family,
In Joshua 5, we are on the west side of the Jordan River, at a place called Gilgal, in the heart of enemy territory. Joshua, Gods newly appointed leader, has received the confirmation to lead from the people of Israel. He bravely and obediently followed Gods instructions in the crossing of the Jordan, now in our story this week, he slips off alone to scope out the seemingly impenetrable wall surrounding Jericho. Joshua knows this will be Israels first battle in this new land, is he ready? Alone, standing before core of evil itself, God sets up a one-on-one encounter to test His new man.
On Sunday we will better understand the heart of God as He calls us to this new walk of faith. God, in this amazingly personal dialogue with Joshua, speaks prophetically to us today, some 1600 years later. Ask not if God is on your side, rather ask if you are on the side of God. God is not interested in joining us in our fleshly desire to win a war but welcomes us to join Him courageously in a journey of faith!
Online Steaming: If you are not able to join us each Sunday, we do offer live streaming on our CCFarmville App. However, we do not believe this is an ideal way to be discipled and should only be used when face-to-face gatherings are not possible. Do not neglect the faithful gathering as a family, it is essential to a healthy community.
The Winter season is ticking along, and Spring will be here before long. Besides our faithful gatherings, here are a few new wonderful opportunities to put on your calendar:
- Men’s Breakfast, Sat morning, Feb 8th, 7:30AM. Register on the App
- Men’s retreat at Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Center, March 21-22, ages 13 and up
-2T Women’s prayer: 2nd Tue evening of each month, 6:30-8:00 PM
-Ministry Leader’s Huddle in the Overflowing Cup: Sat, April 12th, 10:00-2:00
See you on Sunday!
