Pastor's Perspective
Dear church family,
Have you ever considered what it means to bear a burden? Are we responsible for other people's burdens, or are we to deal solely with our own? In Galatians 6, we are given valuable instruction on how to help one another, all the while, checking our own motives for doing so.
As members of the body of Christ, our sincere care for one another is in direct obedience to the word of God. Galatians 6:2 says, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." The legalist in this day, still clinging to the works of the law, remained focused on the outward sign of circumcision, as a means to please God. In John 13, Jesus said, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you."
As we look through the corrective lenses of this new commandment, may we not only bear one another's burdens, but also examine ourselves and the work God has called us to do. Some burdens are meant to share, but others are meant to bear. Thankfully, our Savior knows our size, and has a yolk perfectly fitted for us.
I am looking forward to worshiping our Lord together this Sunday with each of you. Take this opportunity to get to know one another, by shaking the hand of a brother or sister and asking them how they are doing. It may just be an opportunity to share in a burden.
Blessings, Dawson
Note: VBS is almost here! Please continue to pray for a mighty work of God in the hearts and lives of each child.
Sunday after church, the process to transform the building into a western town will begin. Many hands make light work. Pizza will be provided for those that can stay and help. We are hoping to be done by 3pm!
