Pastor’s Perspective: Whatever He says to you, do it

Dear Church,

It’s here, it’s comfortable, it’s beautiful—it’s fall! October is my favorite month of the year, in my favorite season of the year. But like many blessings in life, it goes by so fast, and in a blink, Christmas songs will be playing. Drink it in and enjoy it while it lasts. A drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway is free and spectacular, a quiet hunt in a tree stand is essential (required for CCF membership ?), and coffee on the porch is highly recommended.

In our John 2 study this Sunday, we will read one of four places in Scripture where Mary, the mother of Jesus, speaks. These are also the last recorded words from this remarkable woman. Her words were full of faith and anticipation, perhaps sensing the revelation of Jesus as the Christ was imminent. Her instructions to the attendants at the wedding were clear: “Whatever He says to you, do it.” This marked the beginning of the first of many miracles that Jesus performed while here on the earth. And the words of Mary still hold true today! May we all prioritize the holy Word of God and remain responsive to life-changing truth revealed.

The new ministry “Shepherds Gathering” begins this Sunday at 2:45 p.m. at Farmville Rehabilitation Center. We will be offering monthly services to many people unable to attend church due to disabilities or health concerns related to aging. Each gathering will include plenty of time for interaction among the residents, providing support and prayer. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please sign up on the CCF app.

Calvary Chapel’s two men’s softball teams are both in the playoffs this weekend. The Warriors and Young Guns face each other tonight at 6:30, followed by an 8:00 game featuring Trinity Church against Living Hope. The tournament continues tomorrow at noon and should wrap up around 6:00–8:00 Saturday evening.

See you soon!

Pastor Marv
