6/30 Pastor's Perspective
Dear Calvary family,
As we have been discussing, the Ephesian letter spends a significant amount of time advising us on relationships. Establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with one another and with the Lord is of great importance to God. On Sunday in chapter 6 we will study the child’s relationship with parents, Fathers with children, Servants with masters, and each of us in our relationship with Jesus. All of us have missed the mark in many ways in this area, may we all receive a measure of healing and help as we move forward into a brighter future.
We will have Family Day this Sunday July 2nd; however, we will not have our customary carry-in fellowship meal after the service. We will be adding “Story time with Pastor Marv” as a part of these special gatherings when the children join us in the sanctuary, encourage all the children to come forward for the story time this Sunday, even if you need to join them. Toddler care will still be provided during the entire service. We realize the children may cause some minor distractions during the service, but we believe these are special times to be together.
The Overflowing Cup build-out, and the new bathroom in the children’s ministry are near completion, the last of the plumbing hookups are being finished today. Our goal was to build this out with appliances, signage, and sound equipment for $130,000.00. We added a few essentials along the way, so we may exceed that total by a little bit. We financed this project out of our church savings and reserves, thanks to many of you for faithfully giving over the last several years. Our future goal is to purchase a few furnishings, bookshelves and coffee equipment and have good coffee available for our services and special events. We also would like to rebuild the savings for the next open door of ministry opportunity. To date we have received over $67,000.00 in specified building fund donations, thanks much for sharing in this together! The Overflowing Cup will also be available this Fall for live stream service overflow if needed. We will plan a building dedication and prayer later this Summer.
July is mission month at CCF. This Sunday morning, July 2nd, Nanda & Lisa will be sharing on the ministry in Nepal. Then this Sunday evening, 5:30 we will gather in the Overflowing Cup and hear from Sam & Olivia Avery concerning their ministry in Africa. July 9th we will hear from the Gideons International, and July 16th, Dawn Hicks will be sharing on behalf of the Pregnancy Support Center.
Summer softball will be underway in a few weeks. Beginning next weekend, CCF will have 2 teams playing in the Farmville men’s modified fast-pitch church league, a schedule will available next week. Go CCF Warriors and Young Guns!
See you on Sunday,
Pastor Marv
