9/16 Pastor’s Perspective

Sep 16, 2022    Pastor Marv Fisher

Dear Church Family,

In our study of Luke chapter 9 this Sunday, Jesus addresses the emotion shame: Shame has been described as an uncomfortable sensation we feel in the pit of our stomach when it seems we have no safe haven from the judging gaze of others. We feel shame when we do something contrary to expectations or norms. Jesus tells us not to be ashamed of the Him or His gospel. May the Holy Spirit that lives within us, show us the incredible value of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. May we receive great boldness and power when the judging gaze of this world looks upon us because of message of the cross! We should always be ashamed of sin, and repent. We desire to be unashamed of the gospel, and to live and speak with the boldness coming from Spirit of the Living God!

We have some wonderful upcoming opportunities for discipleship and fellowship:

Tomorrow morning (09-17-22) - Men's Breakfast: 8:30 AM at church. If you have not signed up, text me (434-547-7593) if you would still like to join us. Bring the boys!
Tomorrow (Sat) - Heart of VA CCF Outreach: Please be in prayer for our outreach team as they offer to pray for those who stop by our CCF booth. Pray for courage and open doors for the gospel.
Tuesday 7:00-8:00 AM - Men's Bible study will begin a study in Colossians! Consider joining us if you can.
Tuesday 9:00-11:00 AM - The women's Bible study will continue through the book of Acts. Childcare for all ages is available.
Sun, Oct 2nd - Baptism: Have you gone public with your faith? Have you been baptized as a believer in Jesus Christ? What a great day to be unashamed of Jesus Christ and His gospel!
Something to consider: We have researched a Calvary Chapel Farmville chartered bus trip to Kentucky on Jan 17-20, 2023. It would include a day each at the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter. The cost would be around $550 per adult. Children and senior citizens would receive discounts. This Sunday morning, we will be asking for a show of hands if you would seriously consider going along on this wonderful trip. Before moving forward with planning, we need to know if there is enough interest to reserve the bus, and continue in finalizing the details.

See you on Sunday!
