5/26 Pastor's Perspective
Dear Calvary family,
This coming Saturday, I will be teaming up with 4 other producers to lead a field day and cattle sale in Appomattox (VA South Poll Cattle Sale and Gathering). This will be a gathering of a few hundred ranchers and farmers from at least 14 states. Our speakers will focus on low-cost cattle production raised on grass and hay, and our pasture walk will help us understand the value of healthy soil in producing healthy food. The life of the soil beneath our feet, is unseen by most people, only what grows on the surface. But healthy soil is essential to growing healthy food. So it is in our lives, the invisible soul of man often carries a great load sadness, anger, resentment, and burdens that weigh us down and greatly effect the life we live on the surface. Only God can heal the troubled heart. He is willing to forgive our sins, comfort us in our sorrow, provide hope for broken relationships, and bring rest and peace to the soul. May God continue the good work of restoring health to mined out soils of our hearts and may the Holy Word of God begin to fall on good soil, producing fruit that honors God, and greatly impacts others around us. On Sunday we will begin Chapter 4 of Ephesians, we will continue to look at our relationships one with another. This is also a picture of plant life in a pasture, where the roots extract different nutrients from the soil, and help feed one another. Maybe one day we will have a literal pasture walk as a church family, meanwhile, let’s have a spiritual one this Sunday at 10:00 AM!
Cindy Ott has moved in with Jordan & Tara Yoder as she continues her healing from her stroke. What a blessing for Cindy to be in a home with a family who loves and cares for her. If you are available to assist the Yoder’s for a few hours one day, you can sign up on the church app, or speak with Kristen. Helping one another is vital to healthy family life.
Remember, this week we will have a sendoff prayer for Jorge, Luisa and Rachel. We also have a card box located in the foyer. May God use them to bring the hope of the gospel to their homeland in Columbia.
Much love to all
Pastor Marv
