4/28 Pastor’s Perspective
Good morning, Calvary family,
One of the great mysteries and misunderstandings in relationships is the concept of love. In chapter 1 of Ephesians, we see much value placed upon the love the saints had for one another. This Sunday we will study Gods design for us to commune in the love of Christ and express that to one another. Agape love is not just a sterile decision to treat another human being with dignity and respect, but rather, this love involves affection, good will, benevolence, and brotherly love. Both will and emotion are needed to properly love a brother or sister. Our ability to love is intimately tied to our faith in the giver of love, Jesus Christ. May we all prepare our hearts, as we gather around the Word of God, unpacking of this wonderful, life changing gift.
The Lord is continuing to stir our hearts towards revival. Confession and forgiveness of sins results in freedom, hope, and joy. Unconfessed sin eats away at the heart like cancer and will be revealed in time. Confession of sin is Gods first requirement for forgiveness, opening the door for miracles of mercy and grace to begin the transformation of heart, soul, and mind. As for the sin of another, we rarely have a proper vision because of our own condition. For the same reason, we can easily misjudge another’s confession. May we seek to be genuine before one another, may we be eager to extend the same kindness, mercy and grace that has been freely given to us from the Lord Jesus Christ, time and time again. May the love of Jesus abound among the saints at Calvary Chapel Farmville!
This coming Wednesday evening we will have a special audio story presentation concerning the Bema seat of Christ, the judgement of believers. This is a very well-done story that weaves the numerous scriptures concerning the rapture of the church, and the gathering of believers from all ages, around the throne of God. This life after death story brought me to tears, grateful for the gift of eternal life, and reminds us of the value our remaining days here on earth. I hope you can join us as we listen and pray together.
The “Overflowing Cup” building addition is progressing nicely. HVAC lines, electrical wire and plumbing are currently being installed. Our vision is to provide opportunity for several ministries of the church to be able to overflow into this space as they grow. It will also provide new opportunities for our church family and beyond. Please bring this to the Lord in prayer, thanks to all who have given financially!
See you on Sunday,
Marv
