8/25 Pastor's Perspective

Aug 25, 2023    Pastor Marv Fisher

Good morning Calvary family,

The scripture for this Sunday is Philippians 4:5-9, verse 6 may be the most impactful of all. “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” If you read this verse carefully, you will see that the word requests hold most of the weight of this verse, in regard to dealing with anxiety. The great mystery of this verse is the two words “made known”. Does the all-knowing God not know our anxious thoughts already? Do we have to tell God something so that He now knows it? I hope we can answer these questions in our time in the Word on Sunday. Would you join me in prayer for a great awakening in dealing with growing anxieties and stresses in our culture, within the Christian community, and yes, perhaps with you & I. May the peace of God guard our hearts and our minds through Jesus Christ.

We have an outreach opportunity for you to consider. On Sat, September 16th, 9:00-3:00, Calvary Chapel Farmville will have a booth at the “Heart of VA Festival”. This is Farmville’s biggest event of the year. We will be available to pray for people, get to know our community, hand out gospel tracts, give water bottles, and welcome people to our church. We will be asking for 2-hour intervals for our volunteers. It is important to have both men & women on each team, children are welcome to join parents in serving. I would also like to have a prayer team interceding for our volunteers during the entire 6-hour festival. Take a step of faith, and trust God to use you for His glory. https://subspla.sh/ggv3k2q/

Our Overflowing Cup dedication service is scheduled for Sunday Evening, Sept 17th. To attend, it would be helpful if you signed up in the CCF app, or the paper copy in the foyer. This will be a wonderful evening of worship, prayer, sharing vision and a Q&A. We are so thankful to God for this additional space!

See you on Sunday!
