News for Teachers

News #2 4/30/16

As a reminder we are planning on moving the Classes into their new locations on Wednesday May 4th after the service.  If you are available Wednesday evening, you can direct where you would like the tables and cabinets to be placed in you classroom. If you cannot be with us Wednesday evening for the move, you can give me a layout of your room and I will have the furniture placed accordingly.  Please clean out the cabinets in your rooms of old teaching materials and discard all unnecessary items and remove all materials on the walls by Sunday May 1.

This Sunday Jeff Smith will again try to talk to each of the teachers to:
  • record when individual teachers are scheduled to teach so Lee will know who is on duty each week.
  • make sure you have all the teaching supplies you need.
  • find out if you have any special needs for your new classrooms, such as lower white boards or multiple boards, table height adjusted, etc.
Sticky notes have been placed on the classroom doors to indicate the new classroom assignments.
A web page has been set up to post news from the Foundations ministry. On this page you will find all the issues of this little newsletter plus off of this page there will be a link to the teaching schedule.  Check out the page at http://ccfarmville.org/ministries/childrens-ministries/foundation-news-for-teachers/
Thanks you for participating in the Foundations Ministry.

News #1 4/22/16

Over the next several weeks, the leadership of the CCF Foundations will be issuing weekly updates of what is happening in Foundations and what changes are in the works. Please check your e-mail weekly to informed with current happenings in Foundations. Also this same information will be posted on CCFaarmville.org. I will let you know next week the exact page on the website.

With Jeff and Ann taking a sabbatical from their work in the Church, Lee Lapp is the interim director for Foundations.

The red Check-In station for Foundations has been moved to the doors by the sanctuary to remove congestion from the lobby and allow parents faster access to the sanctuary. Once the Foundation classes are moved into the new classrooms, the entry from the lobby will be blocked by a folding screen until sliding doors can be installed. This way all the Foundation Classes will be in one area.

At present we are planning on moving the Classes into their new locations on Wednesday May 4th after the service. White boards will be installed in the new classrooms on the block wall so as to keep the other walls available for you to display teaching materials. Please clean out the cabinets in your rooms of old teaching materials and discard all unnecessary items and remove all materials on the walls by Sunday May 1.

Currently the classroom assignments after the move will be:

  • Children’s worship will be moved to the large common Foundation’s area
  • Toddlers will move into the 4th/5th room where the Children’s Worship currently takes place
  • Pre-School Class will move into the middle classroom of the new classrooms
  • K/1st Class will move into the new classroom closest to the playground
  • 2nd/3rd Class will move into the classroom currently occupied by the K/1st Class
  • 4th/5th Class will move into the classroom closest to the doors to the CCF Center
  • The old toddlers room will be converted into the prayer room freeing up Marv’s office.
  • The wall between the current pre-school and the 2nd/3rd rooms will be remove to create a larger space for the adult classes, e.g. Love and Respect.

Lee and others will be working to reestablish the VIP’s and to secure more teachers, especially for Wednesday evenings.

If you are unable to teach on your assigned day, please contact your team teacher to see if they can fill in for you. If they can’t teach, contact Lee. Lee will line up someone to take your place.

This Sunday Jeff Smith will try to talk to each of the teachers to:

  • record when individual teachers are scheduled to teach so Lee will know who is on duty each week.
  • make sure you have all the teaching supplies you need.
  • find out if you have any special needs for your new classrooms, such as lower white boards or multiple boards, table height adjusted, etc.

A workshop will be setup in the near future to discuss the current curriculum to find out what’s working, what needs modifying and what needs a complete overhaul.

Please extend grace to Lee and the other leaders of Foundations in this time of transition.
